BSU VOLLEYBALL SHUTOUT 3-0 BY ELIZABETH CITY STATE

(BOWIE, MD) Playing their first home match of the young season, Bowie State's Lady Bulldogs showed promise but came up short, losing 3-0 to Elizabeth City State. The ECSU Lady Vikings won three straight by scores of 30-19, 30-26 and 30-12.



Elizabeth City State's Eva Johnson knocked down a game high 32 attacks and teammate Xie'Ara Maybanks-Smallings added another 19 in the victory. Sophomore Bethany Sloat (Baltimore, MD) paced the BSU's Lady Bulldogs with a team high 18 attacks and seven service aces. Junior Tamara Conner Rogers (New York City, NY) contributed 16 assists and fellow junior Jasmine Guy (Germantown, MD) added another 13 attacks in the loss.



Bowie State (0-3 / 0-1 CIAA / 0-1 East) will have little time to rest as they travel to Charleston, West Virginia for a weekend tournament hosted by the University of Charleston. Elizabeth City State (4-4 / 1-0 CIAA / 1-0 East) return to action next Monday (9/10) against Virginia Union in Richmond.
